AVOID Visiting Toledo, Spain (Day Trip Travel Guide 2024)

Don't hate me, but certain destinations are not for everyone. We traveled with our in-laws and their style of travel didn't match what Toledo offers. We also struggled a lot with bringing our 11-month-old who needs a stroller and is loud and energetic. I think this destination is suitable for people who want to explore specific historical landmarks from the old town and are willing to walk and ...

What Happens After Quitting Alcohol For 243 Days
I spent four weeks vacation in Toledo June/July last year. *Stay away!* I don't want my beautiful, favourite medieval town to be more overrun than it already is when I arrive for another four weeks stay in the end of August this year. Or, at least, If you visit Toledo, don't bring Dani-Karen's hopeless in-laws.
If your psychology courses tell you that - travelers fit for Toledo should be "easy to please", "like everything", "have little travel experience" (like me, who only lived in 8 countries and only travelled extensively in 24 world-wide), "not picky about good food" (there are several excellent restaurants in Toledo proper out of the the 14 or 15 in Toledo's upper town (there is even a McDonald's on Plaza Zocodover), if that's not enough, then take one of the Escalators to (litteraly) downtown, below the old Toledo. Its name is Santa María de Benquerencia. There you'll find another 15 restaurants, plus - especially for American tourists - a Burger King, a Kentucky Fried Chicken, and a McDonald's somewhere - then you can demand your money back. In short, travellers to Toledo should be inexperienced people like those know-nothings who included Toledo in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites almost 40 years ago. I don't hate you, but perhaps you should open up a little and leave your in-laws behind.
Youre THIS mad that Toledo is boring and sucks? lol sheesh
@@nickofjupiter It is spelled *sad* The title should have been "Avoid bringing small children in strollers to Toledo", which is what it's all about.
@@albertnielsen1154 that was just one aspect form our point or view yes but she explained her position
This video was mostly about “look I’m an American that is trying to live as an American in another country” 🥴 maybe you should’ve learned before you move that when you go to another country you live by their rules…. And that’s coming from an American….
I am actually not American 😂 . Regardless, the acculturation process takes time. I think I have done a pretty good job and adapting to some things and then keeping the things about my lifestyle that I like :) . I am sorry you didnt enjoy this video! Hopefully, next time!
@@dani-moves well okay, you mentioned publix and all so I thought American it was plus Florida. I lived overseas for a while and loved it. But I was open minded about the differences. Now I DID ENJOY the video :) not to say I didn’t! I wanna move to Spain. Now in what you mentioned about the degree is interesting but mine is in IT so it should be transferred
Why is it a con that they don’t speak English? You’re in their country. Learn their language….
Spanish it's my first language hahahaha! I explicitly said I don't expect people here to speak English, and didn't say it's a problem for the Spanish. I am saying it can be a con for English speakers, since most of my viewers are English speakers. I have to speak to my audience!

The prices of the apartments aren't realistic considering the minimum wage in Spain is 1100 Euros a month.
Let me give you a tip. Go to your bank and obtain a service that will allow you to rent by creating some type of collateral at the bank. That's the way to go as a foreigner. You're paying too much to rent an apartment. $1500/month should be max.
Agree!!!
A Coruña is the Galician name . La Coruña is the Spanish name .
Ohhh good to know!!!
Perhaps you would be better staying in the shopping malls of America
Or at the beach 🥰😍
Toledo is the heart of Spain, very meaningful in so many levels... Obviously you didn't get any of that. Some Americans have a big problem when they come to Europe, they don't take things for the way they are but for the way they want them to be. Their superficial minds don't allow them to see any further and sometimes their ignorance is very daring. I do respect your opinion but I remind you that even to say something as simple as NO, you have to know how to say it.
Wgere is the file with questions?
Oh god I can’t find it now :( sorry

Homologar, not monologar
Oops! Thanks for the correction
If you want to go inside the temple they will do an open house when it's finished. I'd recommend coming back then if you want to see it.
Amazing! Thank you!
Omg you are sooo cute and kind thanks for the video!!🥹 I’m coming to Naples in july-september for an internship in aziende hospital and i m looking for somewhere to stay. ı don’t want to be far away from center i like chiaia, piazza del plebiscito and centro storico i’ll look around there. I’ve found a house near to Basilica di Santa Maria della Sanità, do you have any idea about that place like is there safe? Thanks again for the video you’re gorgeous❤️
Aw! Thank you so much!! What a sweet message. I hope you have a blast! If I’m not mistaken, I don’t think it’s necessarily “unsafe” but I believe that area stays pretty busy since it’s touristy.
Please don’t call it the Bali of Spain. It’s much more luxurious and is a city for rich people. Bali isn’t for the rich.
I put a question mark in my title 😇😇😇
Thank for this video, i was trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I've had a high fever, body aches, eye pain, always feeling fatigue. Today is day no.4 and i feel like im getting worse. I've already seen the doctor and they put me on an IV. But it doesn't feel like im recovering. So might need to see the doctor again. Im hoping id feel better soon. I only have 3 days left in Bali
Ugh! I’m sorry 😭 I feel like we should all get extra days in Bali just in case we have to deal with dengue. It’s so common there and so terrible to go through. I really hope you get better. The IV is so necessary for your recovery and health
Madrid "winter" is definitely not comparable with Canadian winter. Hope to visit soon. Tnx
FACTS!
I visited Toledo and absolutely loved it. It was an amazing historical city with such beauty and charm. It's a small city so I don't think anyone was planning on going clubbing or top notch entertainment. I visited many cities in Spain and would highly recommend visiting.
This is very true! I appreciate your feedback 🙏
Beauty 🥰
Besos!
Great video - thank you for sharing both the nicer and not so nice!
Aw thank you. I’m glad you liked it

thanks for the video, looks quite welcoming city, however is it easy to live as expat coming from non eu country to live temp in a university area for low medicore income with no spanish or basque? heard that most expensive in spain but safer than other cities?
you are right! it is more expensive than other cities, but it is safer and more beautiful than most cities in Spain. And i dont think the job market there is desirable
@@dani-moves yeah it is small city but not a welcmoing for jobs but can be only for short term university positions but not sure the salary wise is easier to live and no info about tax and etc :D everyone is only talking about the ocean beach but nothing more :D
What kind of stroller do you have? I love it!
Hi! We have the Yoyo2
Im from Coruña and im glad that you highlighted the not so outstanding parts as well, the people from here may say that there is no city like a coruña but of course we do not dare to say some of the ugly parts of the city that you mentioned. Nevertheless, thanks for the great video!!
thank you :D Im glad you liked it 💗
You come off pompous
hhmmm
@@dani-movessorry, that’s according to me and my friend that watched this. I’m sure others will agree with you, though. You started off with mentioning your education and profession, maybe to establish some kind of credibility? Then you said people that may like Toledo if they’re simple to please or rarely travel. It came off as you thinking only simple people would enjoy this place. If your idea of fun is being in a restaurant or bar and people watching until 2am, maybe stick to Madrid. Others may have fun exploring and learning about history.
Well done, thanks!
Thank you too! <3 3

Actually turkish word for mountain is " dag" not Balkan. Word "Balkan" is made of two words "bal" meaning honey on turkish, and "Kan" meaning Blood on turkish. So word Balkan cou be translated - the Land of Blood and honey

Hmmm, no. "A Coruña" is the galician language name as "A" is the feminine indefinite article. "La Coruña" is the Spanish language name as "la" is the feminine indefinite article in that language.
Thank you for the corrections!
Thanks, I was told a few years ago that I should not go because I was with someone with a wheelchair. I am glad i did not go. Now later this year I will go with friends with good walking shoes who love history and El Greco as a day trip.
It can be nice to visit. I just think there are other things you can do in Spain that are funner :)
The problem with apartment renting in Spain while having kids is not really about them destroying the house, it is actually about the parents themselves. Spain has lately become a very very unsafe country to invest on real estate, since as you might know the local household law benefits squatting, which is a very serious problem here. Trying to kick tenants who stop paying or just plain squatters is already very difficult, and if they have kids, that only works in their favor. Unfortunately, thanks to such miserable individuals we all have to get screwed, and the consequence is that prices blow up and requirements get way more strict. And of course, in your situation, having a non-stable work doesn't make your landlords feel any safer. I don't know how much you guys earn a month, but I suggest you bring the landlords adittional guarantees to lessen their worries, like for example, your previous landlords recommendation (if they exist), a guarantor or a fat account statement. They might still not accept you, but at least they might think twice.
Hola, I'm glad you like my hometown. Madrid is a vibrant, glamorous, cultural city with a lifestyle that makes it unique, in fact, I think it is the best city in the world. Just a comment and I hope you and the rest of your fellow Americans or Brits accept it as constructive criticism. I am half Spanish and half German. Like many Europeans we speak more than one language, I specifically speak eight and my father spoke fifteen. I think they should learn the language of the country where they reside to integrate into a new society. Spain is not the USA, the UK or any Anglo-Saxon country. I have seen that many of you, in some way, keep complaining that English is not spoken in Spain, because because it is not the USA, the UK or any Anglo-Saxon country, it is not the official language. In fact, in Spain there are four official languages and in the European Union there are twenty-eight. When I go to Germany I speak German and not English. Furthermore, why do we have to speak their language if Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world? Begin to assimilate that you are not the center of the universe and that the rest of us have to adapt. You are the ones who live outside the United States, not the locals. For the rest, I'm glad you like the city and the country. Greetings.
LOVEEE MADRID!!
I explicitly said I don't expect people here to speak English. Yet, my videos are in English and I target many English speakers, I know they want to know about English speakers in the city. So I make my observation considering them. Yet, again, I do not expect anyone to speak a language from another country. And Spanish is my first language :)
From living there in the 70's to now is a whole different world, Madrid is very expensive now. I have come almost every year and again next month, the difference is hugely noted. I was offer a job in Madrid but the salary was nowhere near where I am now in France no way would take it they thought did not know the city but I know the costs lol! However, a great city to visit ::)
And it's getting MORE expensive :(
Love the info, can you talk about income tax for people that work virtual.
thank you!! I dont have a lot of into on that sorry :(
That was helpful. I remember around 10 years ago as a studeht how affordable Italy was when I stayed in Napoli and paid around $25 a night for a good hotel but now it is over $70 a night for the cheapest and hostels $40 a night! Expensive in cafes and restaurants too. It is shame how expensive Italy has become as it is one of the best destinations in Europe.
totally agree :(
You totalky sold me on Toledo. I will check your channel for places you like so I know where not to go.
Hahahahah 🤣
Everyone is intitled to their own opinion. You spoke your truth and did say a bit of the other side as well.
As a person from Toledo I kinda feel offended…
Sorry, I think my message got misunderstood
@@dani-movesthe old town is where not too many people live In other places of Toledo there are better restaurants and places where concerts and parties are held but don’t expect everything to be held in the old town (if you know what I mean)
Don't go to Toledo if you don't enjoy seeing beautiful, historic old cities full of magnificent things to see, or if you have to push a baby around in a stroller. Okay. Got it.
:( this is not what I meant
@@dani-moves I watched the video, and that's what comes across to me. Toledo is a beautiful old city full of magnificent things to see, but since you had to push a baby in a stroller, and since you planned your visit very poorly, apparently doing no research at all, therefore, no one else should go there.
It's not an honest review if you have a referral link in the description
I disagree :) it’s pretty honest
Sounds fun. How is it for cycling?
Amazing actually!
